MONGOLIAN COLLECTABLES

Unique and wholly authentic assemblage of 108 small Buddhas. This remarkably preserved "mala of Buddha" was recently uncovered in a remote Mongolian cave, where it had been buried in a box since the 1930's communist suppression. These Buddhas display a number of different mudra and are variously clad in mineral colors. They date from the Late 18th century and are in exquisite condition - commensurate with age, devotional usage and of course nearly a century hidden away!! Each piece is a sculptural masterpiece with great presence and most retain vestigial consecration cavitation. Taken together they are an auspicious manifestation of Mongolian Buddhist devotion.

Note the bottoms of these statues. All were consecrated and some still have the sutra inside.
